The second meeting of the newly established Dublin Belfast Economic Corridor (DBEC) Industry Advisory Panel took place at Belfast Harbour Commissioners on Wednesday (25.2.26), marking an important step in shaping the Corridor’s priorities and programme for 2026.

A key pillar of DBEC’s Partnership strategy, the panel brings together industry leaders to help ensure growth across the Corridor is driven by strong collaboration between business, academia, and government. At this meeting, members agreed on priority actions and programme direction for the year ahead.

Discussion focused on Placemaking and Corridor Branding to promote DBEC as a vibrant place to live, work and invest, alongside the critical importance of continued investment in Enabling Infrastructure — including transport, rail, energy, utilities and broadband. Rail infrastructure and sustained utilities investment were highlighted as key advocacy priorities, recognising their role in supporting labour mobility, skills development and wider economic growth.

The panel also acknowledged ongoing collaboration across the Corridor, including DBEC’s involvement in offshore wind initiatives, engagement with the British Embassy in Ireland, and development of initiatives aimed at creating circularity in construction across the Island of Ireland. Members emphasised the importance of coordinated cross-jurisdictional working to maximise shared benefits for communities and businesses.

David Conway, Chair of the DBEC Industry Advisory Panel and Chief Executive of Louth County Council, said:

“It has been hugely positive to see the level of engagement from our industry leaders and their clear commitment to the Dublin Belfast Economic Corridor as a powerhouse of opportunity. As we move through 2026 and beyond, their leadership will be central to driving innovation, collaboration and investment in infrastructure, helping to build a stronger, more connected Corridor for the benefit of the entire region.”

The Panel will meet on a regular basis to provide strategic advice, identify economic trends and opportunities, and support collaboration across business, local authorities, academia and economic agencies. It will also help drive investment in infrastructure, skills and trade, while guiding policy engagement on cross-border challenges.

The Industry Advisory Panel represents a diverse mix of businesses across sectors, including transport, energy, offshore technology, construction, professional and financial services, food manufacturing, agriculture, broadband connectivity, and life and health sciences.
