Compliance status

This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.1 AA standard, due to the non-compliances listed below.

Non-accessible content

We know some parts of this website are not yet fully accessible and we continue to work on this:

  • videos begins playing automatically after page load
  • some links with the same target have different descriptive text
  • iFrames is missing a title attribute
  • some videos do not have captions
  • some PDF documents are not fully accessible to screen reader software

The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reasons.

Non-compliance with the accessibility regulations

Videos

On two pages, hero video content plays automatically. Controls have been added to allow users to pause or stop the video. This doesn’t meet WCAG 2.1 success criterion 2.2.2 Pause Stop Hide. We plan to resolve this by 30 September 2025.

Some video content does not have captions. This doesn’t meet WCAG success criterion 1.2.2 Captions (Prerecorded). We plan to resolve this by 30 September 2025.

Links

On some pages the purpose of each link can’t be determined from the link text alone. This doesn’t meet WCAG 2.1 success criterion 2.4.4 Link Purpose (In Context). We plan to resolve this by 30 September 2025.

PDFs and other electronic documents

A large proportion of our PDFs and other electronic documents are not accessible to a screen reader. This doesn’t meet WCAG 2.1 success criterion 4.1.2 (Name, Role, Value). We plan to resolve this by 30 September 2025.

iFrames

Some iFrames are missing a ‘title’ attribute to describe the iFrame’s purpose. This doesn’t meet WCAG 2.1 success criterion 2.4.1 Bypass Blocks. We plan to resolve this by 30 September 2025.

We plan to resolve this by 30 September 2025.

Disproportionate burden

At this time, we have not identified any issues that would constitute a disproportionate burden under the accessibility regulations.

Content that’s not within the scope of the accessibility regulations

Regulations do not require us to rectify “office file formats published before 23rd September 2018, unless such content is needed for active administrative processes”.

Any new PDFs or Word documents we publish however, will meet accessibility standards.

We will be live streaming videos on our Online Events page, but we are not required to add captions to “live time-based media”.
